Body Probe: Torture Garden 2
Mutating physical boundaries
David Wood
Creation Books, London
c 1999
192 pages
ISBN 1-84068-004-0

Back Cover

Body Probe, the follow-up to the now acclaimed, club-based book: Torture Garden, presents an eclectic mix of interviews (including a fascinating interview with Nick Knight discussing his collaborations with Alexander McQueen), features and striking images. Exploring how technology and the human body are becoming increasingly entwined as we enter the 21st century, Body Probe provides a graphic, penetrative and confrontational insight into the work of these leading international artists.

Nick Knight, the Chapman Brothers, E.Garbs, David Cronenberg, Hermann Nitsch, Orlan, Stelarc, Ron Athey, Franko B, Della Grace and Alex Binnie. Individually and collectively their work represents the cutting edge of art, design, performance, photography and film, as they push the boundaries of the human body to the extremes of mutation, self-mutilation and body customizing.

Features include: Fashion mutation; Alien abduction; the Cybernetic Body; Robot Art; Sex in Space; Medical Fetishism; Sadomasochism in Art; Body Customizing Extremes; Virtual Bodies, and Post-Fetish Fashion.

Body Probe now reconfirms the Torture Garden's position at the cutting edge of the fetish, body art, and cyber technology scene. It contains over 100 black and white photographs, and over 50 full-colour plates.
